英文要約Research project name:“Common base arrangement project for fostering a hydrogen society”Research area:“Research for review and standardization of regulations concerning fuel-cell vehicles”Research theme:“Research for preparing norms for and standardization of hydrogen and fuel-cell vehicles”(fiscal 2005 to 2009 ) Interim annual report on research for fiscal 2007 Japan Automobile Research Institute Results of Research and Development We continued collecting basic data on standardization of the safety, performance, and fuel of hydrogen and fuel-cell vehicles by reflecting the needs of the industry accurately through corresponding committees, subcommittees, and working groups (WGs). (1) Evaluation of the safety of hydrogen and fuel-cell vehicles To evaluate the safety of hydrogen and fuel-cell vehicles, we built up basic data necessary for examining rationalization of compressed-hydrogen tanks by conducting water-pressure cycle tests using the upper-limit pressure as the parameter as well as liquid-pressure cycle tests under extreme temperatures, static electrification tests during the gas penetration test, and hydrogen-gas charging and consumption tests. We also prepared manuals for firefighting and rescue activities by conducting ignition and fire tests as well as firefighting tests, which are required for safe firefighting and rescue activities related to hydrogen and fuel-cell vehicles. (2) Standardization of fuel-cell evaluating methods To standardize fuel-cell evaluation methods, we obtained data for preparing an international standard (IS) from the technical specification (TS14687-2) of ISO/TC197/WG12 (specifications for hydrogen fuels) by investigating the influence of impurities on power generation according to MEA specifications, methods for evaluating the influence of long-time power generation as well as conditions for acceleration tests for determining the influence within a short time, concentration characteristics of impurities in the hydrogen circulation system, and so on. Furthermore, we examined and developed a technique to enable calculation of hydrogen consumption from the composition of exhaust gas (oxygen balance method) and also obtained data to support the draft international standard (DIS23828) for ISO/TC22/SC21 (electric vehicles) from bench tests on fuel consumption of fuel-cell vehicles. (3) Standardization activities Together with conducting technical deliberations at each WG of the analysis and technology section under the FCV Basis Arrangement Committee, we deliberated on action policy, preparation of drafts, and preparation of comments in each range of activities at each WG of the standardization section in preparation for international conferences.
