英文要約“Kyoto University ICC/NEDO Integrated Photonics Laboratory”was opened as a model project of the Human Resources Development and Science and Technology Exchange Promotion. In this project, we aim at the developments of human resources and technologies by the effective utilization of research achievements of NEDO projects. Especially, our purpose is the construction of networks for human resources and research results based on NEDO projects of“Nanoglass Technology”and“High-efficiency Processing Technology for Three-dimensional Optical Devices”. We conducted not only fundamental and interdisciplinary investigations coordinating with companies, but also cultivated human resources through lectures, problem-solving activity, and seminars. 1. Cultivation of human resources relating to“Nanoglass Technology”and“High-efficiency Processing Technology for Three-dimensional Optical Devices” (1) The second symposium of ICC/NEDO integrated photonics laboratory We successfully held a “The second symposium of ICC/NEDO integrated photonics laboratory” on 25th October, 2007, in order to construct networks for human resources and to introduce the research achievement of NEDO projects. Over 220 participants attended the seminar. (2) Open lectures We have opened three series of lectures focused on “the modern analytical techniques”,“the practical training of analytical instrumentation”, and“the computational material science”regarding nanoglass and three-dimensional optical device technologies every month. Especially, the lectures on Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffractometer (XRD), and focused ion beam (FIB) were well-attended and extremely well received. We succeeded that the total number of participants were over 250. Furthermore, the demand of the lectures on practical training of analytical instrumentation were so high, we are planning as to improve this lecture in the subsequent year. (3) Lectures for students We have given lectures for the master's degree course students (Advanced Electronic Materials, Nano Photpnics Materials). In the subsequent year, we are giving a public lecture on “Introduction to Nanotechnology”for students. 2. Construction of research networks and promotion of personnel exchanges We have supported and led the researchers of the small and medium enterprises including the ventures based on our fundamental and interdisciplinary investigations. The number of technical assistance cases reached 45 in this year. 3. Fundamental and interdisciplinary investigations We carried out research investigations into femtosecond laser technology applications, and managed to obtain some good results. These include the topics on “Nanomaterial”,“Femtosecond laser processing”, and“Metamaterial”, where we presented our new results at many international conferences and journals. As a result, several companies have proposed collaboration programmes of reseach and development, including personnel training with us.
