1.Description and Achievements of Research & Development
1-1 Biomass Collection at Large-Scale Forest Product Sites (collection by cable yarding)
(1)In order to reduce transportation cost, how larger sizes of trucks could be used for transportation was studied.
(2)Periodical costs were identified.
1-2 Biomass Collection at Medium-Scale Forest Product Sites (material collection by vehicle-series forest machines)
(1)Efforts were made to reduce expenses in collection and transportation (improve collection efficiencies).
(2)Periodical costs were identified.
1-3 Biomass Collection at Small-Scale Forest Product Sites (collecting materials by NPO and individual forestry family)
(1)In the small-scale collection, a quantitative examination and a study to stabilize the amounts of collection were conducted.
1-4 Making Biomass Chips
(1)Trade by water content was implemented as an incentive to encourage better biomass (biomass with less water content) to be brought to us.
(2)How to store pre-chipping biomass was examined.
(3)Periodical costs were identified.
(4)In order to deal with anything that cannot be solved by existing crusher, how new-type crusher can be introduced was studied.
1-5 Collection, Analysis and Examination of Operation and Its Data of Energy Conversion/Utilization Systems
(1)Operation of energy conversion system
Demonstration test was conducted with the energy conversion system consisted of gasification power generating system and pellet manufacturing system, and the basic performance, maintainability, safety and running cost of the energy conversion system were identified, so that improvement might be made. Main results are as shown below.
(2)Collection, analysis and examination of data of operation and economy of energy conversion system
Data of the operation and economy of energy conversion system were collected, analyzed and examined, so that improvements might be made. Main results are as shown below.
(3)Acquisition, analysis and examination of operation data of systems using pellets
(4)In order to improve energy efficiencies and effectively utilize sub-products, charcoal pelletization system was introduced.
