英文要約Title: Local Local Biomass Heat Utilization Field Test Project on the Plant Producing Dewatered Sludge Fuel using the Granulation Drying Process (FY2006-FY2008) FY2007 Annual Report
The Shinjo Dewatered Sludge Fuel Production Facility was completed in the end of FY2007. Currently, only a small portion of the sludge generated in public wastewater treatment plants is used effectively, and most of that is disposed of as industrial waste. Given that many landfill sites are filled to capacity in a few years, municipalities, that bear the responsibility for the sludge treatment, should seek new ways of the sludge treatment. Effective utilization of waste is mostly limited to applications such as composted fertilizer, cement materials, and carbonized fuel, which have not become prevalent due to various problems. Therefore, this project will provide a new solution to the utilization of sludge. When a sludge treatment plants is adopted in provincial cities, region-wide treatment is assumed in order to create economies of scale. In that case, however, shipping costs of sludge will be high, due to high water content. In that regard, this project will demonstrate an optimal combination of economies of scale and shipping costs resulting from region-wide treatment. The granulation drying equipment has a treatment capacity of 30 tons per day. The size of fuel it produces is in the range of about 3 mm in diameter. The pellets are chemically stable; it has low water content of about 8%, has mild odour, and won-t be fermented. Furthermore, it has high heat value, which is 2/3 times as high as coal. Wood chips are mainly used in the drying process. That will achieve lower emission of greenhouse gas. We plan to manufacture 6.51 tons of the fuel from 30 tons sludge per day, which accumulate 1953 tons of final product annually. It will take 7.5 tons of wood chip per day, for a yearly total of roughly 2,250 tons. The fuel will be used in the coal-fired boiler installed at the Iwanuma Mill of Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd.. We expect a reduction in the use of the coal and the greenhouse gas emissions, that is to be 290 kg of CO2 for each ton of dewatered sludge treatment. Given that it took the whole year of FY2007 to complete the sludge fuel Production facility, there are no results to be reported from the facility.
