英文要約Title:New Energy Technology Development Development of technology for High-efficiency Conversion of Biomass and other Energy(FY2008-FY2009)FY2008 Annual Report Comprehensive Promotion and Evaluation Study has three main themes. The first is comprehensive promotion and coordination of the “Accelerated Technology Development for Biofuel” program. The second are analyses of economic feasibility, LCA, and analysis of impacts on society, environment and culture. The third is examination of promising biomass production sites and business models.:Under the first theme, presentations of the results by study groups and discussion on development targets were made in the biofuel challenge committee. For ensuring the confidentiality of the results from the comprehensive promotion and evaluation study, a nondisclosure agreement was concluded among study groups. In addition, negotiation among relating parties is under way for a nondisclosure agreement with regard to the giving and receiving test samples.: Furthermore, for bio-ethanol producing technology evaluation, reviews began on each total process flows presented by study groups and on calculation formula of development benchmarks. Another review also began on utilization of by-products, namely, electricity and heat.:Under the second theme, for successful economic feasibility study, selection of data items coming from study groups, construction of framework of economic feasibility study, and literature survey on the past evaluations of this kind were made. Relating to LCA analysis, selection of systems to be objects, review on scenario setting, and research on input/output data both directly and indirectly started. These activities are required for evaluation of amounts of GHG emissions from burning of bio-fuels, a development target of this R&D. Selection of data items from study groups was also made for LCA analysis. For economic feasibility study and LCA analysis, a common form was made.:For establishing methodology of analysis on impacts over society, environment and culture, examination of evaluation items/events and information gathering on evaluation criteria developments were done.:Under the third theme, listing-up of promising production sites for high-yield grasses in Japan and ASEAN countries based on literature survey or GIS data, examination of grasses for raw materials, and examination of impacts over society and culture of listed-up production sites were made. Considering efficiency of transport system or efficiency of ETBE production, business models were examined in the listed-up production sites based on literature survey and GIS data. The business models cover all the way from production of biomass considered to be the best, bio-ethanol production to distribution of biofuel.
