英文要約We continuously make effort to implement the developments of human resources and technologies by the effective utilization of research achievements of “NEDO projects of Nanoglass Technology” and “High-efficiency Processing Technology for Three-dimensional Optical Devices”. Especially, we have enhanced the construction of networks and cultivation of human resources through lectures, problem-solving activity, and seminars.

1. Cultivation of human resources relating to “Nanoglass Technology” and “High-efficiency Processing Technology for Three-dimensional Optical Devices”
(1) The third symposium of ICC/NEDO integrated photonics laboratory
We successfully held a “The third symposium of ICC/NEDO integrated photonics laboratory” titled “Creation of Innovation through Cooperation among the Government, Industry and Academia” at Katsura Hall in Katsura campus of Kyoto University on 29th October, 2008. Over 220 participants attended this symposium. Due to enhancement of the cooperation between industry and academia, we divided this symposium into two sessions. In the first session, we arranged the keynote and special lectures titled creation of new values based on the cooperation, and aiming the exchanges of technology, we organized the presentations by venture companies’ young researchers in the following session.
(2) Open lectures
This year again, we have successfully opened a total of 10 times of lectures focused on “the modern analytical techniques”, “the practical training of analytical instrumentation”, and “the computational material science”. The average number of participants was regularly over 40.

2. Construction of research networks and promotion of personnel exchanges
Aiming the nurture of small to medium-sized and venture companies, we have successfully opened a total of 5 times of delivering lectures for young engineers. After the lecture, we have provided for face-to-face meetings of technical information exchange. According to such background, the number of cases of technological assistance has substantially increased from 50 to 80.

3. Fundamental and interdisciplinary investigations
We have also carried out research investigations into femtosecond laser technology applications, and managed to obtain some good results. These include the topics on “Nanomaterial”, “Material processing by using femtosecond laser”, where we presented our new results at many international conferences and journals. As a result, several companies have proposed collaboration programs of research and development, including personnel training with us.
