英文要約Title: Field Test of Sewage Sludge Gasification (FY2007-FY2008) FY2007 Annual Report
Sewage sludge gasification is one of the prospective technologies to dispose sewage sludge producing biogas. This technology still has some technical problems in stable gasification, residue treatment and the total system efficiency for practical use. To develop them and to realize the sewage sludge gasification system, the following were done in the fiscal year 2007.
1. Optimization of gasification condition
1-1. Results of the durability test
The durability test was conducted for 90 days. In the test, the continuous running of the gasification system for 2000 hours was achieved without any troubles. The high carbon conversion ratio of more than 92% and the average cold gas efficiency of 63%, which exceeded the target of 60%, were also obtained. Furthermore, 95% of the tar was removed by the tar removal catalyst, and the tar removal efficiency of 98-99% by all of the gas cleaning systems was achieved. Consequently, the continuous running of the gasification system for 90 days was achieved with no tar problem.
1-2. Results of the main systems
Although the shape and the specific gravity of the dried sewage sludge in the drying system fluctuated and caused some operational problems in the previous year (2007) experiments, they were controlled by adjusting the rate of the dryer rotation, and the stable operation could be achieved.
In the gas cleaning system, the amount of consumption of sulfuric acid for ammonium reduction was reduced 75% compared to the previous year, because of the low ammonium concentration in the gasification gas caused by the high decomposition efficiency in the tar removal catalyst, and the target of removal performance was achieved.
1-3. Result of gasification test of sewage sludge mixed with wood chip
The gasification test of sewage sludge mixed with wood chip was conducted to investigate the specific of gasification of mixed biomass. In that test, the mixing ratio of dried sewage sludge and wood chip was 1:1 in volume, and 3:1 in calorific value. The results of the test showed that the cold gas efficiency was about the same as the sewage sludge gasification, and the stable gasification was achieved.
2. Evaluation of environment and economy for practical use
Based on the previous year’s result, we conducted an environmental evaluation of this gasification system by building the calculation model. And we found that the gasification system had advantages from primary energy consumption and environmental aspects compared with conventional incineration system.
