(1) 新規イオン液体の設計と合成
平成20年度にイミダゾリウム系カチオンとシアノホスフェイト系アニオンよりなる有望なイオン液体が得られている。この新規イオン液体に関して、平成19年度に導入した計算科学システムを活用し、更なる化学構造の最適化を行った。具体的には、アニオンのHOMO準位を計算し(プログラムGaussian 03、RHF/6-311+G(2d,p))、広い電位窓が期待されるアニオン構造をリストアップした。主要な結果を図1に示す。

We have synthesized four new ionic liquids consisted of imidazolium cation and cyanophosphate anion. And we recognized physical properties and electrochemical evaluations. Among these ionic liquids, 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium tricyanotrifluorophosphate had melting point of -30 degree C, viscosity of 20 mPa・s, potential window of 5 V and conductivity of 14 mS/cm @ 25 degree C, which was satisfied with FY2009 target value. It have been understood that the ionic liquid was the hopeful material from practical aspect, because the conductivity at low temperature needed by on-board lithium ion battery showed the high value of 1 mS/cm @ -30 degree C. We assumed that the low viscosity and the low meting point have been the results of the chemical structure contented fluoride and possessed asymmetry structure. For the potential window in cyclic voltametry, we have thought their solid of electrolyte interface (SEI) expanded potential window. For the safety evaluation of ionic liquids, we have examined the thermal stability of ionic liquids contacted with the charged cathode, for example Li1/2CoO2, LixCo1/3Mn1/3Ni1/3O2, etc. and discussed the safety from the view point of exothermic onset temperature and amount of heat. In the results, though ionic liquids have low flammability, some ionic liquids were less stable than organic solvents. The thermal stability depended mainly on anion structure of ionic liquids, and it was found that the introduction of F atom had the good effect on the thermal stability. 1-Butyl-3-methylimidazolium tricyanotrifluorophosphate synthesized in FY2009 showed best thermal stability among ionic liquids with cyanophosphate anion.
