英文要約1. Outline of the project
The purpose of this project is to conduct, in an emerging area in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), a demonstration experiment of a social system in which sewage is collected in a tank lorry and treated using a unit-type membrane bioreactor (MBR) and a reverse osmosis (RO) membrane, and the produced water is supplied to nearby factories as industrial water, irrigation water, etc. By performing the demonstration operation of this plant, a business model will be established, and expertise in water treatment business operation will be gained.
The objectives of the project for the fiscal 2010 are to commence running of a demonstration plant having the sewage treatment rate of 2,000 m3/d and supplying RO and MBR treated water as produced water, and to demonstrate operations such as sewage collection, treatment and supply of produced water. It is intended, through conduct of such operations, to acquire expertise in upkeep, management and business operation as well as basic data such as running cost that constitutes the basis for economy evaluation.
2. Details of the performance for 2010
2.1 Overview of sewage collection and produced water supply
The sewage collection rate gradually increased since treatment was commenced on May 17th. Although 2,000 m3/d, which is the design value, has not yet been reached, the rate increased to about 700 m3/d from about 200 m3/d, which was the rate at the time of commencement of running of the plant. The sewage is collected mainly from the area of radius 5 km in the Al Ghail Industrial Park and also from its peripheral area. The produced water is used as industrial water, irrigation water, etc.
2.2 Subjects of running and countermeasures
The subjects, which were actualized through demonstration running, and their countermeasures are reported below.
[1] Method for sewage discharge
To eliminate jam-up of tank lorries and to permit smooth discharge of sewage in the sewage acceptance section, the tank lorry traveling course should be designed so that discharge of sewage from tank lorries can be achieved in a course of one-way traffic without reversing motions. Contrivances were made in the layout of the sewage acceptance area, and shortening of sewage acceptance time and labor-saving of guiding staff could be achieved.
[2] Accumulation of inorganic matters in the tank
The demonstration plant is located in a dry area in the Middle East. Wear of impellers at circulation pump that is considered to be caused by accumulation in the MBR tank of sandy dust contained in the sewage was observed. There is a concern that entry of inorganic matters such as sandy dust to the tank leads to troubles such as membrane wear and drop in membrane washing effect. Therefore, sand removing equipment will be additionally installed and its effect will be verified during 2011 operations.
[3] Measures against entry of foreign matters into sewage
Fats and a variety of foreign matters were contained in the sewage collected with tank lorries. The treatment is adversely affected when these fats and foreign matters enter and accumulate in the MBR tank. Therefore, a separator will be additionally installed and its foreign matter removing performance will be verified during 2011 operations.
2.3 Grasping of running cost
The plant running cost, which constitutes the basis for economy evaluation, was reviewed. It is intended to grasp the cost related to business operation and to evaluate feasibility of the business based on such data in the fiscal 2011.
