The activities executed during the fiscal year 2010 are as follows: 1. Local Survey: Investigation of local manufactures for equipment required for the project. It was basically confirmed that the manufactures could be used for the project. 2. MOU/ID signing confirmatory review: Schedule and action items toward ID signing were discussed with the Chinese IMPLEMENTING ENTITY, as well as contents of MOU including its appendices. 3. Basic engineering: Basic engineering work has been conducted such as combustion calculations, preparation of overall process flow diagrams, general plot plan, equipment list and specification of major equipment and budgetary quotations for major equipment. 4. Main engineering considerations: Solutions to the following issues are included in basic engineering documents: 1) As the result of the local survey it was realized that, in addition to consideration of general problems of municipal solid waste combustion, it is necessary to take into account unique problems in China. Those include relatively small heat value of the solid waste, variable heat value of the solid waste by seasons and contamination of over-sized wastes and incombustible wastes. 2) It is necessary to define delivery conditions of rice straw, which may be delivered with big cube shape. The crane to provide rice straw to the waste hopper shall be carefully engineered.
