英文要約Title: Innovative Zero-emission Coal Gasification Power Generation Project; Feasibility Study on the Total System from Power Generation to CO2 Storage; Overall System Evaluation (Evaluation of the Total System from Power Generation to CO2 Storage) (FY2008 - FY2010) FY2010 Annual Report
The following sub-themes have been carried out by IAE in cooperation with AIST; (1) project coordination, (2) development of cost evaluation model, and (3) development and/or improvement of energy scenario models including optimal generation planning model (ESPRIT(TM)), energy model for Japan (ATOM-J) and its sub-models, global energy model (ATOM-G), and global carbon cycle and ecosystem model (DONGRI); (4) exploring needs for standardization in the area of CCS; and (5) strategic study to accelerate the deployment of CCS in Japan. IAE held FS liaison and coordination meetings every other month to coordinate the schedule, role-sharing arrangement, and several issues for tasks. The meetings with Japan CCS Co., Ltd. were held to clarify the common and specific technical issues between the both projects through the exchange of the information. The information was used to study the specification of the plants, the operating procedures, and so on. Based on the latest information on CCT and CCS in the US, Europe, Australia, China, and so on, “CCT&S Newsletters” were issued every month. In order to analyze the results of the case studies, a CO2 balance and cost evaluation model have been developed to deal with the overall system consisting of CO2 capture, transportation, and storage with monitoring for CO2 emitted from the IGCC. The simulation study has been carried out with the developed model to indicate the possibility of the total system. After reviewing several methods of transportation and storage, the six cases consisting of three cases of transportation with liquefied CO2 ships, two cases of transportation with pipeline, and a case of direct injection were selected. The six cases have been economically evaluated based on the design and cost data of CO2 capture, transportation, and storage. The issues for strategic discussion such as reliability improvement and cost reduction have been focused on in terms of the total evaluation. A GIS based flexible performance and cost evaluation model (SEEC) has been developed with database for stationary large scale CO2 sources and potential storage sites. Commercial optimal generation planning model (ESPRIT(TM)) has been enhanced to analyze long-term feasible scenarios for CCS introduction in the electricity sector in Japan. Existing energy models (ATOM-J and ATOM-G) have been improved to enhance the linkage with ESPRIT model. Design study to improve global carbon and ecosystem model (DONGRI), which will be used to analyze the contribution of various CO2 emission reduction technologies including CCS towards the “Cool Earth 50” initiative proposed by the Prime Minister of Japan by estimating the long term stabilization of atmospheric CO2 concentration, has also been carried out to include improved terrestrial ecosystem model. The combination of these models was used to make a detailed analysis on the Strategic Energy Basic Plan of Japan (2010). Detailed study on the international status of the definition and/or standardization of the concept of Capture Readiness (CCS Readiness) which might have an important political implication has been carried out through literature survey and interviews to experts and policy makers. In order to analyze the potential of accelerating the deployment of CCS in Japan, a feasibility study on the retrofitting of existing coal fired plant with CCS was carried out.
