1. Contents and result of the Demonstration Project
Dry coal preparation technology is a coal preparation technology that does not use water, and is a energy saving technology compared to conventional wet type coal preparation technology. By these efficacies, this Demonstration Project is intended to demonstrate that the dry coal preparation technology is effective for Mongolia coal which is mined from Erdenes Tavan Tolgoi coalmine with Eredenes Mongol LLC (hereinafter referred to as “EMC”).
In the Demonstration Project, Japan side supplies the main equipments and supervisor, and Mongolia side supplies the site construction works and commissioning. The main equipments are constituted by the raw coal pre-treatment equipment, the coal separating equipment and the product transportation equipment.
Through this project, the dry coal preparation technology system will be standardized and the cost of this system will go down by local procurement. Moreover, this system can be disseminated in Mongolia by demonstration operation and holding seminar.
In 2016FY, the civil & foundation work of EMC was not started, because EMC could not establish SPC which would raise funds.
In 2017FY, the counter part was changed from EMC to Energy Resources LLC (hereinafter referred to as “ER”). Then the Project was restarted, and the basic plan and design of equipment was changed due to the change of the site. However, the civil & foundation work of ER was not started, because the problem of transfer of Japan supplied equipment ownership could not be solved between Ministry of Mining and heavy Industry (hereinafter referred to as “MMHI”) and ER.
