英文要約Title: Potential survey of supercritical geothermal resources in Eastern Japan and Kyushu area and estimation of power generation

Supercritical geothermal resources, which has an origin in subduction of oceanic plate, has a potential to drastically reduce emission of CO2 after 2050. Following feasibility studies funded by NEDO, a team from national institute, universities and industry started a potential survey of supercritical geothermal resources in Eastern Japan and Kyushu area and estimation of power generation from FY2018.

In FY2018, we have mainly made the following studies
(a) Investigation of evaluation methodology of potential of supercritical geothermal resources
- We planned survey of supercritical geothermal resources at three area in Hokkaido, Tohoku and Kyushu.
- Procedure to model supercritical geothermal systems for simulation of thermal energy extraction has been started

(b) Survey of supercritical geothermal system in North Japan
- Geological information related to supercritical geothermal systems has been conducted.
- Preparation of MT survey in Hokkaido and Tohoku has been started.

(c) Survey of supercritical geothermal system in Kyushu
- Geological information related to supercritical geothermal systems has been conducted.
- MT survey in one area in Kyushu has been started.

(d) Estimation of thermal energy extraction from supercritical geothermal systems
- Tuning of a simulator to estimate thermal energy extraction from supercritical geothermal systems has been started.
