英文要約Title: Trend survey on the innovative iron and steelmaking processes harmonized with low carbon societies (FY2018-FY2019) FY2018 Interim Report

 For the consideration of overseas applicability of NEDO project technologies, COURSE50 (hydrogen reduction steel making process technology with Carbon Capture and Storage),Ferrocokes (utilizing the low grade coal solvent extraction technology with CO2 emission reduction ), 2030 onward.

IEEJ(Institute Energy Economics, Japan) and NSRI(Nippon Steel Research Institute) analyzed current situation of climate change policies for steel sector and research and development strategies on hydrogen reduction technologies in steel producing countries, such as China, India, Korea, European Union, United States etc.

It was tentatively concluded as follows;

1. The Paris Agreement entered into force on November 2016, the implementation of energy efficiency improvement and environment counter measures ware enhanced in those countries. Tax regulation and market mechanism tools for steel sector are exempted by each government in the context of leveling playing field.

2. Thus, R&D for steel sector is significant to realize low carbon society. Hydrogen reduction technology and other technologies related to energy saving and environmental impact reduction for the production of steel were classified into smart carbon usage technology and de-carbonization technology (Direct Carbon Avoidance), and the technology contents and development stages of these technologies were researched and organized. Deployment of CCS technology needs technical and financial breakthrough.

3. The future increase of crude steel production were estimated through 2100, according to the survey of Japan Iron and Steel Foundation. JISF sheds light on the amount of per capita accumulation of steel for archiving Sustainable Developing Goal, and concludes that 1.2 billion tons of pig iron production is required in 2100.
