(1) Research and development of common basic technologies required for AI chip development

(1)-1 Research and development of design flow for AI chip
Aiming at constructing a design flow specialized for high speed, large scale, ultra low power consumption, high power efficient chip design, which has features of high regularity and large number of connections, which are characteristic to AI chip design as well as embarking on the creation of the emulator usage guidelines, we started to formulate the emulator usage manual.

(1)-2 Research and development of for hardware development vertical launch realization
We selected various design tools and created usage guidelines for EDA tools in order to formulate a tool chain that can achieve the entire process from software to sign-off of hardware design.

(1)-3 Research and development of reference design for AI chip design
We examined the specification of the accelerator and also considered the implementation to the logic verification device of the base.

(1)-4 Research and Development of New Device Model for Chip with Sensor Function
An element design environment based on a physical model is required as a tool for maintaining unique elements required for the AI chip. In order to adapt Impulse TCAD, which was already developed by AIST, to the application, we examined a user interface specific to the purpose.

(1)-5 Utilization of domestic and foreign FABs and research and development of optimization library
Questionnaire interviews were conducted with small and medium-sized enterprises, etc., and IPs that realize requests and functions were listed. Launched a website to deliver IP.

(2)Construction of AI chip development base

(2)-1 Preparation of EDA tools necessary for research and development of AI chips
We have introduced logical design tools, analog and circuit design tools, physical design verification tools, and high-level design tools. In order to establish a remote usage environment, we introduced an EDA usage computer and set the usage environment.

(2)-2 Human resource development and construction of base functions
We have started to develop a manual on how to use the EDA tools introduced at the site and the emulators that are being introduced at the site. We conducted interviews with small and medium-sized companies and venture companies that could become users of the base, and performed conditions confirmation for possible use.
