1. Development of measurement technology of micro-crack with X-ray CT scan
High input-output solid state lithium-ion battery can be achieved with optimum distributions of active material, solid electrolyte and binder in the electrodes. Moreover, micro-clacks are generated in the electrode that can decrease the battery ability. In this study, the measurement technology is developed to observe the material distribution and the micro-clack with X-ray CT scan systems to evaluate the battery internal structure and to build a numerical simulation model.
The X-ray CT scan with lab-scale system requires long exposure time to get high S/N ratio images and measured objects should be stable in this exposure time. In the first year of this project, we developed the X-ray CT measurement jig and optimized the X-ray imaging condition, and we successfully took Nano-scale and high S/N ratio 3D images of all solid-state lithium-ion battery that can be used as a structure model in the numerical simulation.
