1. Development of numerical analyses and evaluation methods
(1) Development of battery pack model
We are developing the battery pack simulation model which can predict the performance and the temperature depending on the performance of the R&D all-solid-state lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) of this project.
We prepared the battery power simulation model which can calculate the required battery power during driving. We calculated the battery power on driving of a virtual electric vehicle (EV) with all-solid-state LIB pack, and simulated the temperature of the battery pack, using the cell model which was obtained by analyzing the data of actual cell.
(2) Development of evaluation method
(2-1) Development of performance evaluation method
We evaluated the performance of the all-solid-state LIBs, and decided the test conditions which is scheduled for next fiscal year. We also started the test of liquid type LIBs to clarify the difference with the all-solid-state LIBs.
(2-2) Development of safety evaluation method
In this fiscal year, we investigated Environmental test and Electrical test using liquid type LIBs.
(2-2-1) Environmental test
High temperature endurance, Temperature cycling and Thermal shock cycling test were evaluated at temperatures higher than the upper limit temperature specified in the conventional standard test method in order to obtain comparative data for all-solid-state LIBs.
(2-2-2) Electrical test
In the Ceramic nail test of the internal short-circuit test, a preliminary test was conducted using liquid type LIBs to examine the restraint jig structure of all-solid-state LIBs.
(3) Proposal/Development of International Standard
Items of performance and safety tests for all-solid-state LIBs were considered. Conditions for performance and safety tests of all-solid-state LIBs were preliminarily considered based on the test results of liquid type LIBs.

2. Study of Social-System design
(1) Discussion at Social-System WG
Working group, composed of PL, sub PLs, automobile manufacturers, battery manufacturers, has examined specific and analysis contents and methods to be implemented in the next fiscal year and thereafter.
As a result, it was decided that to predict of the future EV market trends from the social environment, user needs etc. and to establish scenario design of social system by preceding survey from the viewpoint of comparing the trend of all-solid-state LIBs and EVs equipped with all-solid-state LIBs, with the liquid type LIBs.
(2) Vehicle simulation
We will estimate the performance and characteristics of the electric vehicle with all-solid-state LIBs by vehicle simulation.
In this fiscal year, vehicle models and output items of simulation were studied.
