1. Outline and Achievements of Research & Development

(1) Research on the preparation of solid electrolytes by new liquid processing
# Aim and purpose:
Preparation of standard solid electrolytes, StdSEs, by liquid phase processing such as liquid phase shaking (LS) and ion-exchange (IE) methods, and their characterization

* Achievements in 2018 :
・As standard solid electrolytes, StdSEs, preparation procedures of Li3PS4 and Li7P2S8I by liquid phase shaking (LS) were established. The procedures were standardized and transferred to the project members including LIBTEC.
・Argyrodite type Li6PS5Cl solution was successfully prepared in a short time by liquid phase shaking using ethyl propionate and ethanol as solvents. Resultant Li6PS5Cl, which is one of the StdSEs, showed higher conductivity of 4 mScm-1 at 50 degrees C than the conventional one prepared by mechanical milling (MM).
・We newly found a very interesting phenomenon that the conductivities of the Li3PS4 and Li6PS5Cl StdSEs were markedly increase by adding "X" in MM method. The addition of "X" to the StdSEs have been also investigated by LS method. We filed a Japanese patent application based on these new findings.

(2) Research on the preparation of composite electrodes by liquid processing
# Aim and purpose:
Preparation of standard positive composite electrode, StdNMC, and standard negative carbon composite electrode, StdC, by liquid phase processing such as seed-mediated growth (SEED), layer-by-layer (LbL), and electrophoretic deposition (EPD) methods and their characterization.

* Achievements in 2018:
・Graphite/Li7P2S8I composited electrodes were successfully prepared by SEED method and good charge-discharge performances were confirmed.
・Ambient air stable, highly conductive 60Li3SbS4・40LiI electrolyte was prepared by IE method and all-solid-state batteries using the 60Li3SbS4・40LiI electrolyte were fabricated and evaluated.
