1. Utilization of commercial stainless steels
1-1)Novel criteria for hydrogen compatibility(JPEC,KHK)
Considering the existing data in combination with new test data, an examination was started for determining the threshold value for hydrogen compatibility.

1-2)Evaluation tests in high pressure hydrogen gas(Kyushu Univ.)
A series of tests was performed for SUS316 and SUS316L steels with various nickel equivalents.

2.Development of cold-worked commercial stainless steels
2-1)Hydrogen compatibility of cold-worked stainless steels and their allowable stresses(JPEC, KHK)
Based on the examination in 1-1), a plan for the evaluation tests was developed.

2-2)Hydrogen compatibility of cold-worked conventional stainless steels(NSSMC,NSSC,NIMS)
The effects of cold-working on hydrogen induced degradation at RT and -50°C were evaluated. The effects of cold-working on hydrogen induced degradation of type 316, 316L and 304L were extremely small at RT up to 40% cold-worked ratio in 90MPa H2.

2-3)Hydrogen compatibility of cold-worked JIS-SUS305 steel(Aichi Steel)
A series of tests was started with cold-drawn JIS-SUS305 steels having different nickel equivalents with different cold-working ratios for evaluation of hydrogen compatibility and their allowable stresses.

2-4) Hydrogen compatibility of heavily cold-worked commercial stainless steels(JRCM)
Stainless steel plates heavily cold-rolled by 50% and 70% reduction were examined on their mechanical properties including SSRT properties at -40°C in 70MPa H2 and their microstructure.

2-5)Evaluation tests in high pressure hydrogen gas atmosphere(Kyushu Univ.)
A series of tests was started with cold-worked JIS-SUS316 series steels having different nickel equivalents with different cold-working ratios.

3.Development for commercial stainless steel welds
3-1)Evaluation of hydrogen compatibility of stainless steel welds(NSSMC,NSSC,NIMS,Kyushu Univ.)
Buttering weld was performed using 4 kinds of matching fillers. A plan for the evaluation tests on weld metals and welded joints were developed.

3-2)Technical guideline(JPEC,KHK)
An examination for the technical guideline will commence in or after FY2019.

4.Development for commercial low alloy steels used at high temperatures
4-1)Development of the method for evaluating hydrogen compatibility of materials used in hydrogen compressors(JSW)
The evaluation methods simulated the operating condition of the hydrogen compressor was considered.

4-2)Evaluation of hydrogen compatibility(JSW,Kyushu Univ.)
The effect of internal hydrogen was investigated by SSRT testing, and no influence of internal hydrogen was observed.

4-3)Revision of technical document(JPEC,KHK,JSW,JRCM,Kyushu Univ.)
An examination for the technical document will commence in or after FY2019.
