Development of A Common Technology Platform for the High-Rate Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastics (CFRP) Molding Process for Future Aircraft
Project Overview
Project period: FY2025 to FY2029, budget: 300 million yen (FY2025) |
To meet the expected surge in aircraft production around 2035, this project aims to develop an analytical simulator that optimizes the CFRP molding process and organizes the necessary database to satisfy certification requirements set by internationally recognized agencies. The goal of this project is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions (reducing CO2) in the aviation industry by expanding the use of CFRP in future aircraft, as it is lighter than conventional metal materials.
Research and Development
R&D Item: Analysis and Development of High-Rate CFRP Molding Process and Materials/Production Technologies |
A) Development of High-Rate Molding Process Analysis Technology
The mechanism of the high-rate CFRP molding process will be analyzed, and a simulation tool will be developed to support the safety standards required for certification. The simulator’s effectiveness will be verified through prototyping of CFRP components. |
B) Applicability Study and Development of Production Technology
Data will be collected through the high-rate molding process to demonstrate compliance with safety standards required for certification. A shared materials certification database related to the molding process will also be established. |
