Advanced Technology Development and Demonstration Project for the Establishment of Hydrogen Society Models
Project Overview
This project aims to develop regional-level integrated hydrogen models that will generate demand for hydrogen and facilitate its commercialization, thereby contributing to the realization of a hydrogen society.
The project will support studies, technology development, and demonstration efforts aimed at reducing hydrogen supply costs and improving efficiency across the entire process, from production to storage, transportation, and utilization.
In developing these models, the project will not be constrained by scale and will focus on achieving commercial viability by around 2035.
It will also address key challenges and enhance the likelihood of commercialization in hydrogen-related fields by conducting integrated demonstrations involving both the supply and demand sides.
Research and Development
1) Study Phase: Feasibility Study on Hydrogen Production and Utilization Potential (Subsidy Program)
This phase involves studies on supply chain models within a defined area that will combine diverse supply and demand configurations tailored to regional characteristics.
In this process, facilities for hydrogen production, storage, transportation, and utilization will be developed, and interconnected infrastructure networks utilizing local resources such as renewable energy will be established.
These studies will include the verification of future business feasibility and economic viability, as well as the acquisition of quantitative data to support equipment development and other related activities.
2) Technology Development and Demonstration Phase: Technology Development for the Advancement of Hydrogen Society Models (Subsidy Program)
This phase focuses on technology development and demonstration aimed at building supply chain models within a defined area that will combine diverse hydrogen supply and demand configurations tailored to regional characteristics, thus bringing these models closer to real-world social implementation.
The development of technology will improve efficiency, reduce costs, and scale up equipment and facilities in the fields of hydrogen production, storage, transportation, and utilization based on local resources such as renewable energy.
Additionally, efforts will be made to ensure business and economic viability of these models.
