Project for International Cooperation on Carbon Recycling and Decarbonization Technologies for Thermal Power Generation

Project overview

Project period: FY2022 to FY2026, budget: 400 million yen (FY2024)

In order to solve the climate change problem, Japan and other countries have declared themselves carbon neutral, announced targets for a low-carbon society, and have begun to take concrete actions. Under these circumstances, this project will conduct technical exchanges, invitations, trend surveys, and feasibility studies for the introduction of specific technologies in order to disseminate Japan's superior technological capabilities through international cooperation. This will lead to the overseas deployment of carbon recycling technology and the decarbonization of thermal power generation, thereby contributing to the reduction of global CO2 emissions and environmental impact.

Details of Research and Development

(1) Project for Promotion of Decarbonization Technologies for Thermal Power Generation

Through this project, NEDO will conduct trend surveys and technological exchanges, extend invitations to partner governments and electric utility companies, and hold seminars and international conferences, all in order to create an environment that encourages the adoption of decarbonization technologies for thermal power generation.

(2) Project for Promotion of Carbon Recycling Technologies

This project aims to promote international collaboration toward the development and distribution of advanced technologies for carbon recycling that will contribute to carbon neutrality. It will encompass invitations to partner governments and technical experts, seminars, conferences, and trend surveys of international trade and policy regarding carbon-recycling products.

(3) International Conference on Carbon Recycling

With an eye on building cooperative relationships among countries and supporting the spread of advanced technology through industry, academia, and government, an International Conference on Carbon Recycling will be held.
