Research theme

Development and commercialization of a wireless implantable BMI

Business Plan

We provide the world's first wireless implantable Brain-Machine Interface (wiBMI®) medical device, utilizing BMI technology to connect the brain with external devices for patients in a locked-in state. By using wiBMI, we enable independent communication and physical activity, freeing patients from the constraints of their condition and alleviating caregiver burdens. Through this innovation, we offer patients the choice to live and contribute to the well-being of all individuals facing locked-in conditions, including their families and caregivers.

Research Outline

In this research and development project, we aim to develop the wiBMI medical device to address the challenges faced by patients in a locked-in state. Additionally, by achieving the following proof-of-concept (PoC) milestones, we seek to establish business feasibility and expand the target market:

  • [1] Conducting corporate-sponsored clinical trials for ALS patients
  • [2] Building domestic and international business infrastructure and models
  • ・Expanding applications for BMI control to broaden indications
  • ・Initiating the development of appropriate use guidelines in Japan
  • ・Establishing a database for intracranial EEG data
  • ・Setting up a North American office and appointing a regional lead
