Research theme
R&D of high-efficiency atmospheric CO2 enrichment system for practical use of DACCU
Business Plan
A startup originating from the University of Tokyo and Japan's first Direct Air Capture (DAC) company, with the mission of 'halting climate change and leaving a beautiful Earth for the next generation' and the vision of 'capturing 1 gigaton (1 billion tons) of CO2 annually by 2050 and becoming a frontier runner in solving climate change.
Research Outline
To reduce the cost of DACCU (DAC and Carbon Utilization) to a practical level, we are developing a DACCU system consisting of:
- [1] an innovative CO2 adsorbent based on zeolite, and
- [2] a CO2 recovery, separation, and concentration unit optimized for this adsorbent.
In particular, this research and development effort aims to complete a prototype of the initial DACCU system model (commercial first unit) capable of recovering, separating, and concentrating 500 kg to 1 ton of CO2 per day. The goal is to demonstrate the potential to reduce concentration costs to approximately $400 per ton of CO2 for the commercial first unit and to $100 per ton of CO2 for mass-produced units.
