Research theme

Development of Manufacturing Technology for Ultra-Fine Intermetallic Compounds Superconducting Wire with High Flexibility and Low AC Losses

Business Plan

JSA, in collaboration with NIMS, has successfully developed ultra-fine intermetallic compound superconducting wires such as MgB₂ that become superconducting in liquid hydrogen. These ultra-fine wires offer flexible handling similar to copper wires, and are expected to significantly improve bend strain tolerance when wound into coils, as well as greatly reduce AC losses. We will conduct research and development to enable stable production of these wires.
