Development of Next-Generation AI Medical Devices for Infectious Disease Clinical Decision Support and U.S. Market Expansion

Business Plan

With the aim of advancing infectious disease diagnosis and treatment to reduce deaths caused by Antimicrobial-resistant bacteria and mitigate economic damage, while also expanding the global reach of Japanese medical devices and strengthening their international competitiveness, we will develop the nextgeneration AI medical device for infectious disease diagnosis and treatment, as well as its U.S. version, and an AI-based microbial identification platform.

Research Outline

In this R&D initiative, we are developing next-generation equipment suitable for small-scale facilities to address the domestic Gram staining market, while also pursuing expansion into the U.S. mainstream market as part of our global scaling strategy. Furthermore, as our next product in the fight against AMR, we are developing an AI platform for microbial identification, with the goal of establishing a continuous microbial testing infrastructure that spans from Gram staining to culture-based diagnosis and identification.

Under this project, we will develop the U.S. version of Mycrium® to align with testing systems and workflows designed to process large volumes of samples. Additionally, clinical trials have been scheduled at U.S. medical institutions, and our goal is to complete the FDA application based on the results of those trials. Through these efforts, we aim to achieve full-scale entry into the U.S. mainstream market.
