Research theme

Development and Manufacturing Scale-Up of fixtureless Bipolar All-Solid-State Batteries

Business Plan

The fixtureless bipolar all-solid-state battery being developed by the applicant represents a new battery architecture capable of simultaneously achieving fast charging, long cycle life at elevated temperatures, and high power output. The technology aims to become a next-generation infrastructure platform that dramatically improves uptime and reliability in commercial applications such as logistics equipment, robotics, aerospace systems, and industrial machinery.

Research Outline

The applicant has already demonstrated stable operation of bipolar cells over more than 1,000 cycles. To further advance the technology toward practical deployment, this project will focus on improving performance and developing key enabling technologies for stable operation. In parallel, the project will also advance production technologies for scale-up and continuous manufacturing of a proprietary breakthrough process currently under development, which has the potential to dramatically reduce manufacturing costs.

  1. Elemental technology development and validation of pressureless bipolar all-solid-state batteries
  2. Development of key manufacturing processes toward mass production
