1.Concept of the summit

NEDO and METI have been advancing efforts aiming to achieve a society where people and robots work together. As an initiative to this end, they have been holding a World Robot Summit (WRS), an international event combining competitions and an exhibition, aiming to [i] bring together the most advanced robot technologies from all over the world and accelerate technological development through competitions; and also [ii] show robots to the public as a means for solving current social challenges, raise public understanding of robots and promote implementation of robots in society. In October 2018, NEDO and METI held a preliminary competition called “WRS 2018” and will hold the WRS 2020 in 2020 as a main competition.
