NEDO Holds Meeting to Report on Results of Innovative Structural Materials R&D Project

On January 21, 2019, NEDO held a meeting to report on the results of the Innovative Structural Materials R&D Project. The meeting was held jointly with the Innovative Structural Materials Association (ISMA).
This project aims to drastically reduce CO₂ emissions by greatly reducing the weight of transportation equipment. In his closing remarks at the meeting, NEDO Executive Director Kiyoshi Imai noted that under this project, multi-material design of structural materials has begun this fiscal year. He also noted that by applying innovative materials developed to date to multi-material technology to the greatest extent possible, this project is conveying the value of materials which are the pride of Japan.
At the meeting, a special lecture was given on automobile multi-materialization and materials integration to revolutionize materials development methods, and reports focusing on project outcomes during this fiscal year were provided through seven presentations of results and twenty-two poster presentations.
