Chairman Ishizuka Attends Eastern Economic Forum

NEDO Chairman Hiroaki Ishizuka attended the 5th Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, Russia, on September 4-6, 2019.
On September 4, Chairman Ishizuka was invited as a panelist by the Russian Ministry of Construction, Housing and Utilities and highlighted in his speech the progress and achievements of NEDO's demonstration projects in Russia for a smart traffic signal system and energy management system, including wind turbine generators. He explained that Japanese technology has the potential to provide solutions to issues facing Russia and improve living standards. His remarks attracted keen interest and were favorably received by both the Russian public and private sectors.
On the same day, Chairman Ishizuka held talks regarding the progress of these demonstration projects with Mr. Nikolay Shulginov, Chairman of the Management Board and General Director of the Russian power company RusHydro, and with Mr. Vladimir Yakushev, Minister of Construction, Housing and Utilities of the Russian Federation, respectively, and on September 5, with Mr. Aysen Nikolayev, Head of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia). At each meeting, Chairman Ishizuka exchanged opinions towards the smooth implementation of these projects and asked for continued cooperation by the Russian counterparts.
On September 6, he attended a meeting with Japanese enterprises and organizations, organized by Prime Minister Abe, and reported on the progress of NEDO’s demonstration projects in Russia.
