NEDO Holds First FY2019 Smart Cell Project Technology Seminar

September 30, 2019

On September 24, 2019, NEDO held a seminar in Tokyo on the theme of "Building and Demonstration Testing of Platforms for Creating Smart Cells--Production of Useful Compounds by Microorganisms." The seminar included a technical overview and case studies of aromatic compounds and health functional oils, and more than 100 representatives of companies and other organizations attended.

With a focus on the development of Design-Build-Test-Learn (DBTL) workflows, presentations at the seminar introduced strategies and technology development unique to data-driven analysis methods using a combination of biotechnology and information science. The second FY2019 technology seminar, scheduled to take place in Tokyo on November 21, will introduce technologies which differ from those featured at the September 24 seminar.
