NEDO Hosts 10th German-Japanese Environment and Energy Dialogue Forum

November 5, 2019

On October 29-30, 2019, NEDO hosted the 10th German-Japanese Environment and Energy Dialogue Forum in Tokyo. The forum was held in collaboration with the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, and Nuclear Safety (BMU) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi).

At a time when many are calling for disruptive innovations which are not merely extensions of current technologies to achieve significant reductions in greenhouse gases, a common challenge for mankind, this year's forum focused on the theme of policies and technologies for decarbonizing the energy system. During the forum, the two sides discussed necessary policies, technologies for hydrogen utilization, and technologies for the application of waste heat and biomass. Participants also exchanged information regarding the latest activities taking place in Japan and Germany and discussed future courses of action.

The forum took place over the course of two days with over 300 people attending, indicating the high level of interest.
