NEDO Concludes MOU with Thai Ministry of Industry and Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand on Demonstration Project for Recycling End-of-Life Vehicles

February 12, 2019

On February 8, 2019, NEDO concluded a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Thai Ministry of Industry (MOI) and the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) on carrying out a demonstration project in Bangkok and surrounding areas for recycling end-of-life vehicles (ELVs).

Since the disposal system for ELVs in Thailand is still undeveloped, this project will introduce an efficient disposal process and, at the same time, promote cooperation on the design of a recycling system for ELVs. Moreover, the project aims to establish a recycling model where useful resources that cannot be processed in Thailand will be recycled in Japan and thereby realize an international resource circulation system.

The signing ceremony for the MOU took place at MOI offices in the presence of MOI Permanent Secretary Pasu Loharjun. The MOU was signed by NEDO Executive Director Shoji Kukita, MOI Deputy Permanent Secretary Apichin Jotikasthira, and IEAT Governor Somchint Pilouk.
