NEDO Holds Meeting to Report Results of Project to Promote Enhanced Efficiency of Trade Procedures in Global Supply Chains

On July 23, 2019, NEDO held a meeting in Tokyo to report on the results of its Groundwork Project for Creating Industrial Models Using IoT and its Project to Promote the Enhanced Efficiency of Trade Procedures in Global Supply Chains.

At the meeting, NTT Data Corporation, the entrusted company for this project, introduced a data sharing system for trade procedures created for this project that utilizes blockchain technology. Results of the demonstration testing conducted in the ports of Tokyo, Yokohama, Shimizu, and Hakata were also reported where information on actual container exports was shared in real time between relevant trading companies. The testing results confirmed the possibility of improved productivity and shortened export lead times for the trading companies involved. In addition, a detailed commercialization plan to implement project results was also introduced.

More than 100 people, including representatives of trade-related businesses, IT vendors, and relevant government agencies, participated in the lively meeting.
