Ceremony Held to Commemorate Completion of Wood-based Biomass Air Heating Plant Equipped with Hot-blast Stove

Under a NEDO project to promote the development of biomass energy systems, Showa Chemical Industry Co., Ltd., has completed the construction of a wood-based biomass air heating plant equipped with a hot-blast stove at its facility in Maniwa City, Okayama Prefecture, and held a ceremony to commemorate the plant's completion.

The project aims to expand biomass energy systems in this region by developing a framework where such systems coexist harmoniously with the local ecosystem that provides valuable biomass resources.

To coincide with the start of full-scale demonstration operations of the plant in mid-September, the ceremony was held at Showa Chemical’s Okayama facility on September 4, 2019. Attendees at the ceremony, which featured a commemorative ribbon-cutting, included: NEDO officials; Mr. Kenzo Ishibashi, President of Showa Chemical Industry Co., Ltd.; Mr. Hideyuki Saito, Director General of the Natural Resources, Energy and Environment Department, Chugoku Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry; Mr. Tadahiro Yoshinaga, Deputy Mayor of Maniwa City, and representatives of companies involved in construction of the plant.
