NEDO Co-hosts Research and Development of Innovative Structural Materials Project Symposium: Challenges and Prospects for Multi-Materialization of Automobile Frame Weight Reduction

September 13, 2019

On September 6, 2019, NEDO and the Monozukuri Japan Conference jointly hosted a symposium on NEDO’s Research and Development of Innovative Structural Materials project. The symposium, entitled Research and Development of Innovative Structural Materials Project Symposium: Challenges and Prospects for Multi-Materialization of Automobile Frame Weight Reduction, was held at the Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering (SAMPE) Japan Advanced Materials Technology Exhibition 2019 taking place at Pacifico Yokohama.

The keynote speech was entitled "Future Prospects for Next-Generation Automotive Technology: Beyond 2030 and Looking Ahead to 2050." Following the speech, provided by Dr. Yasuhiro Daisho, Professor Emeritus of Waseda University, an overview presentation was provided regarding the project. Following this presentation, recent results related to the development of design technologies and evaluation technologies for the reliability of multi-material automobile frames were presented.

More than 330 people participated in the symposium.
