July 27, 2020

On July 19, 2020, Minister of the Environment KOIZUMI Shinjiro visited the 10 MW hydrogen production unit, one of the largest in the world, installed at the Fukushima Hydrogen Energy Research Field (FH2R) located in Namie Town of Fukushima Prefecture. NEDO Chairman ISHIZUKA Hiroaki accompanied Minister Koizumi for the visit and provided him with an overview of hydrogen-related technology development activities, including those taking place at FH2R.

Demonstration operations will be carried out at FH2R in the future where hydrogen production and storage is combined with power grid supply-demand adjustments, and optimal operations control technologies will be verified. In addition, as part of the demonstration operations, hydrogen produced at FH2R will be supplied to users in Fukushima Prefecture and elsewhere.
