NEDO New Delhi Office Held the “India-Japan Hydrogen Seminar”

On March 24th 2022, NEDO New Delhi Office hosted the “India-Japan Hydrogen Seminar.”

The session addressed the enormous potential of hydrogen in India, which will attract Japanese industries with advanced hydrogen technologies. The focus was on understanding the supply side (e.g., competitive cost of hydrogen) and the demand side (e.g., how much hydrogen will be used in Oil Refinery, Chemical, Steel, Power or Mobility industries) in India.

The seminar was one of a series of events during the “India-Japan Hydrogen Month.” It is also identified as part of events to celebrate the year 2022: The 70th Anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Japan and India.

Inaugural Session was attended by Mr. Yoshiro Kaku, Chief Representative, NEDO New Delhi Office, Ms. Vandana Kumar, Jt. Secretary, Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, Mr. Kunihiko Kawazu, Deputy Chief Mission, Embassy of Japan in India and Mr. K. R. Jyothilal, Principal Secretary, Transport, Kerala State, where in the Inaugural address was given by Mr. Tarun Kapoor, Former Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas.

Technical Session was attended by Mr. Ajay Shankar, Former Secretary, DIPP(Industrial Policy & Promotion), Mr. Girish Sethi, Senior Director, TERI, Mr. Alok Sharma, ED, Centre for High Technology. Mr. Eiji Ohira, DG, Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Technology Office, NEDO, Mr. Amit Bhandari, Fellow, Gateway House, Mr. Toshihiko Kurihara, Chief Representative, Japan Bank for International Cooperation(JBIC) India, and Mr. Amitabh Kant, CEO, NITI Aayog delivered the Valedictory address.
