NEDO Co-hosts 4th International Conference on Carbon Recycling 2022

On September 26, 2022, NEDO and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry co-hosted the 4th International Conference on Carbon Recycling 2022. The conference was held in conjunction with a series of international meetings known as Tokyo GX Week 2022 and conducted using an online format.

Following the opening session, keynote speeches regarding ongoing activities and future expectations for carbon recycling were provided by H.E. Arifin Tasrif, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Indonesia, and Mr. Brad Crabtree, Assistant Secretary for Fossil Energy and Carbon Management, U.S. Department of Energy. Remarks on this topic were also provided by a representative of the International Energy Agency as well as representatives of other governments and organizations.

In the second half of the conference, expert panels held lively discussions on three topics: "Investment/startup," "R&D, HR Development, and Issue Identification," and "Carbon Recycling/CCUS R&D and Demonstration Base.” A NEDO representative participated in the discussion on the latter topic.

In his closing remarks, NEDO Chairman ISHIZUKA Hiroaki described the outcomes of the conference and noted that NEDO, with a view toward realizing carbon neutrality, will robustly continue pursuing its role as an innovation accelerator and carry out implementation of the Green Innovation Fund.
