Closing Ceremony Held to Commemorate Completion of Smart Community Demonstration Project in Slovenia

On November 21, 2022, a closing ceremony was held in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, to commemorate the successful completion of a smart community demonstration project carried out by NEDO and Hitachi, Ltd., together with the Slovenian Ministry of Economic Development and Technology, the Slovenian Ministry of Infrastructure, and ELES Ltd., the Slovenian national power transmission company.

The purpose of the project was to develop technologies for cloud-based power distribution and energy management systems capable of addressing issues related to the large-scale introduction of renewable energy sources and the stabilization of power grids, as well as to encourage the use of these technologies in Slovenia and other countries in Europe.

Slovenian representatives participating in the closing ceremony included Dr. Igor Papič, the Minister of Education, Science and Sport, Mr. Bojan Kumer, the Minister of Infrastructure, and Mr. Aleksander Mervar, the CEO of ELES. Japanese representatives included Mr. MATSUSHIMA Hiromichi, the Japanese Ambassador to Slovenia, Mr. ISHIZUKA Hiroaki, the Chairman of NEDO, and Mr. NAGANO Katsuya, Senior Vice President and Executive Officer of Hitachi. Representatives of many other organizations involved in the project also attended the ceremony.
