NEDO Co-hosts Public Meeting to Report on Results of Demonstration Project for Recycling Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment in Thailand

December 23, 2022

On December 8, 2022, NEDO co-hosted a public meeting with the Department of Industrial Works (DIW) of Thailand’s Ministry of Industry to report on the results of the Demonstration Project for Recycling Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) and unveiled Thailand's first integrated WEEE recycling facility.

Representatives of the recycling industry and news media in Thailand attended the meeting and were introduced to the new facility, which efficiently breaks down WEEE and recovers valuable resources for recycling, such as plastics, glass, stainless steel, copper, aluminum, and precious metals.

Arbiz Corporation, the Japanese company entrusted with carrying out the demonstration project, also announced a proposal to develop a system for the proper collection and disposal of WEEE, which is expected to increase in Thailand.

Through this project, NEDO, working together with Arbiz Corporation, aims to realize an international resource recycling system linked to Japan that will serve as a model for Asian countries.
