Ceremony Held to Mark the Start of Demonstration of AI-based Smart Mobility System in Clark, Philippines

September 26, 2024

The New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) and Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) of the Philippines have been carrying out a demonstration project, which is called Demonstration Project of Smart Mobility for the Transformation of Energy Consumption Behavior (Philippines). Zenmov Inc. (Zenmov), a subsidized company for the project, and MC Metro Transport Operation Inc. (MMTOI), a local cooperating company, collaboratively commenced demonstration operation. And on September 10th, an opening ceremony was held in New Clark City, which is located within Clark area of the Philippines.

In this demonstration project in Clark, which is being developed as a smart city in the Philippines, Zenmov’s cloud-based traffic management system equipped with AI-powered scheduler, which is called Smart Mobility Operation Cloud (SMOC), is installed in environmentally friendly vehicles such as electric buses, including an autonomous bus. By doing so, the project aims to improve operational efficiency, reduce GHG emissions, and conserve energy by ensuring punctuality through optimal scheduling according to transportation demand, reducing waiting time with inter-vehicle coordination functions, and improving convenience with cashless services.

NEDO Executive Director YUMITORI stated in his congratulatory speech at the ceremony, “this is the first system of its kind in the Philippines, which aims to achieve AI-based real time optimization of bus operations to best meet transport demand using less energy. I hope that this project will not only be a success on its own, but also be able to inspire the relating Philippines industry”. After his speech, Mr. TANAKA, President & CEO of Zenmov, gave an overview of this demonstration project, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a demo ride on the autonomous bus. The event was successful and welcomed by an audience of over 140 people.
