NEDO and PhotonDelta Sign Partnership Agreement to Advance Photonic Semiconductor Technologies
May 22, 2025
On May 21, 2025, NEDO signed an agreement to join the photonic semiconductor partnership with PhotonDelta, a public organization based in the Netherlands. The partnership aims to promote global collaboration among academia, industry, and government in the development and dissemination of photonic semiconductor technologies. PhotonDelta released a roadmap to drive the practical implementation of these technologies in March 2024.
Before the signing of the agreement, the Netherlands’ Minister of Economic Affairs H.E. Dirk Beljaarts toured EXPO2025 in Osaka. He viewed an exhibition showcasing next-generation green data centers that were supported by NEDO, and expressed keen interest in the potential for photonic-electronic integrated devices to significantly reduce power consumption.
After the tour, NEDO President YOKOSHIMA Naoyuki and PhotonDelta CEO Eelko Brinkhoff formalized the partnership during a signing ceremony in the presence of Minister Beljaarts. NEDO looks forward to continuing to contribute to the advancement and practical application of photonic semiconductor technologies on a global scale through this partnership.
