Discussions Held with Deputy Minister for Energy, Ministry of Environment and Energy of Portugal

On March 25, 2026, Mr. MATSUMOTO Shintaro, Executive Director of NEDO, held an exchange of views with a delegation from Portugal. It was led by Mr. Jean Barroca, Deputy Minister for Energy, Ministry of Environment and Energy of the Portuguese Republic, and H.E. Mr. Gilberto Jeronimo, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Portuguese Republic to Japan.
During the meeting, NEDO provided an overview of its organization and initiatives in the fields of renewable energy and hydrogen. Mr. Barroca explained Portugal’s energy policy and the challenges the country faces and shared the recent activities undertaken by Japanese entities in Portugal. The participants also discussed areas such as offshore wind power, grid stability, and hydrogen, and they agreed to continue exploring the possibility of future collaboration.
