NEDO, JETRO and Innovate UK Sign Memorandum of Cooperation

June 26, 2026

NEDO signed a memorandum of cooperation (MOC) with the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) and Innovate UK on June 14. The signing took place at a Japan-UK business event at the Prime Minister’s Office in London and coincided with the visit of Japanese Prime Minister TAKAICHI Sanae. She and UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer joined NEDO President YOKOSHIMA Naohiko and the other signatories for a commemorative photo.

Innovate UK is the United Kingdom’s national funding agency under the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology. NEDO and Innovate UK had previously signed a memorandum of understanding in 2023 to implement a co-funding initiative under the Eureka Globalstars Call With Japan, which supports Japan-UK joint research and development. The new MOC will strengthen their collaboration through joint programs and information exchanges to further promote joint R&D and accelerate innovation in Japan and the UK. It also provides for JETRO to support seeds to needs matching of technologies developed through funding from NEDO and Innovate UK and promote business development of them.
