NEDO Holds Discussion on Biomass Power Generation with New Zealand Ministry for Primary Industries Deputy Director-General and the New Zealand Embassy in Japan

On September 9, 2026, Mr. MATSUMOTO Shintaro, Executive Director of NEDO, welcomed Mr. Sam Keenan, Deputy Director-General of New Zealand's Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI), and representatives from the New Zealand Embassy in Japan for an exchange of views.

During the meeting, the participants shared initiatives being undertaken in both countries, as well as common technical and policy challenges, regarding the utilization of woody biomass energy and the sustainable use of forest resources. They also reaffirmed their commitment to continued cooperation between Japan and New Zealand toward the achievement of carbon neutrality.
