NEDO Holds Symposium on "Robot and Sensor System Development Project for Infrastructure Maintenance and Disaster Survey"
February 6, 2019
On February 1, 2019, NEDO held a symposium in Tokyo on ”Robot and Sensor System Development Project for Infrastructure Maintenance and Disaster Survey”.
In fiscal year 2014, NEDO started this project which aims to develop technologies for monitoring devices (e.g. sensor systems, imaging equipment, non-destructive inspection equipment) that provide information accurately and quickly regarding infrastructure conditions (note: development of robot technologies for infrastructure maintenance under this project concluded last fiscal year). As this is the project’s final fiscal year, the symposium introduced the wide variety of results realized by the project over the past five years.
Given the importance of promoting early social implementation of project results, NEDO Executive Director Kiyoshi Imai delivered remarks at the symposium noting his belief that, due to repeated demonstration tests and feedback, a highly practical system has been developed and expressing his hope that symposium attendees would make full use of the project results. In addition to introducing results of the research and demonstration testing, part of the actual infrastructure monitoring system developed under this project was displayed, which attracted the interest of many symposium attendees.
