New Zealand Government Delegation and NEDO Exchange Views on Supercritical Geothermal Power Generation

On December 11, 2024, Dr. Iimura Akiko, Executive Director of NEDO welcomed a delegation from New Zealand including the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) to NEDO’s Kawasaki headquarters, where they exchanged views on supercritical geothermal power generation technology.

Dr. Iimura was joined by Mr. Robert Pigou, Deputy Chief Executive of MBIE, Dr. Isabelle Chambefort, Energy Futures Theme Leader of GNS Science, and Dr. Charlotte Severne, Maori Trustee and Chief Executive of Te Tumu Paeroa . The parties discussed the potential of supercritical geothermal power generation technology and the importance of continuing to develop it, and both countries reaffirmed their commitment to work together for carbon neutrality.
