February 25, 2026

On February 18, NEDO held a chairman’s press conference and media briefing under the theme “The Evolution of Project Management at NEDO.”

Mr. SAITO Tamotsu, Chairman of NEDO, began by looking back on the first half of NEDO’s Fifth Five-Year Plan, giving an overview of initiatives like the Osaka–Kansai Expo last year where a wide range of NEDO projects were showcased and demonstrated. He also highlighted the achievements of Dr. KITAGAWA Susumu and Dr. SAKAGUCHI Shimon, the Nobel Prize laureates whose work was partly supported by NEDO.

Mr. SAITO then turned to the future and the topic of how project management is evolving at NEDO. He emphasized that this report stresses the need to place an even stronger focus on real-world social implementation, with the aim of further enhancing the value of NEDO’s programs.

Following the presentation, Mr. YOKOSHIMA Naohiko, President of NEDO, joined the question-and-answer session for a lively exchange with members of the press.
